Romanians working abroad sent EUR 2.695 billion to the country in the first eight months of 2018, equalling the European funds and subsidies received in the first seven months.
The amount of EUR 2.695 billion was sent by Romanians working under one-year or longer contracts, according to data published by the National Bank of Romania (BNR).
Out of the money received from the EU in seven months (EUR 2.692 billion), over EUR 1.7 billion are money for which we need to do nothing, namely agricultural subsidies and only EUR 898 million are money obtained from structural funds for cohesion and rural development, according to data from the Ministry of European Funds.
Moreover, between 2007 and July 2018, the money received from the above-mentioned funds totalled EUR 5.931 billion
