Companies with Romanian capital surprise by spectacular actions that previously were rather typical to the foreign capital: Bitdefender took over a partner company from the French market and the Dedeman founders kick-start their activity in the top real estate market.
Bitdefender took over the French company Profil Technology
Bitdefender acquired its partner company from the French market, Profil Technology, as part of its business expansion strategy in the segment of large companies. This acquisition strengthens company’s position in Europe and globally. The company did not indicate the figures for this transaction.
Florin Talpes is one of the few Romanian who managed to expand their business abroad, as his companies approached a globally focused strategy of development. After a previous success on the US market, the company has established in 2016 its local presence in Italy and Sweden.
The takeover of Profile Technology enables the Romanian company to consolidate its presence on the French market both in the enterprise and consumer segments and adds a team of 50 professionals in sales, marketing and customer relationships.
Present on the French market since 2001, Bitdefender has become a strong player in the retail sector in France cyber security solutions, controlling a third of market solutions for French consumers purchased in stores.
„France will be a key market for us in the future. By taking over this business, we can be closer to our partners and customers and we intend to replicate our success from the residential consumer market in the enterprise segment, by relying on the technological superiority of our products to gain a leading position,” says Florin Talpes, CEO of Bitdefender.
Fuelled by the latest technological innovations, Bitdefender sales to large companies have tripled in the last three years and the company has won the confidence of the large clients in securing the hybrid infrastructures.
Bitdefender solutions for protecting the terminals from companies are incorporated in the product Gravity Zone that is able to protect the most complex hybrid infrastructures. Based on patented technologies in the field of artificial intelligence, Gravity Zone focuses on the techniques, tools and behaviours of the attackers to combat any security breaches and avoid compromising the infrastructures.

Dragos and Adrian Paval, the two brothers from Bacau who own Dedeman, the first private company with domestic capital that exceeded EUR 1 billion in turnover, buy the AFI Park office project.
Sources from the market tell about the largest real estate transaction completed by Romanian investors after the financial crisis, as the agreement with the developers – AFI Europe – is estimated at EUR 164 million.
Paval brothers who turned Dedeman into a national network of 45 large retail units, expand their activity towards the field of investment funds. One of them will support the development of the start-ups and the other will develop real estate activities. The acquisition of the five AFI Park office buildings lays the foundations for the second investment fund.
Discreet when it is about their business plans, Dragos and Adrian Paval embrace the „sustainable” development that follows the strengthening of the core business. In 2016, Dragos Paval stated for wall-street.ro that he thinks about developing an own real estate project, a 10-storey office building next to the Esplanada mall in Pantelimon.
Both the Talpes spouses of Bitdefender and Paval brothers of Dedeman are known as discrete people, focused and directly involved in their businesses, pursuing solid and long-term projects and avoiding the limelight.
The two Romanian super-companies strengthen this way the local capital’s potential and create an important advantage for the economy: the gross value added by local businesses to the economy is far greater, despite the lower turnover, than the foreign investment.
