The National Institute of Statistics (INS) identified in Romania 73,663 groups of enterprises, of which 5,469 groups of resident enterprises and 68,194 groups of multinational enterprises groups (152 locally controlled and 68,042 controlled from abroad) according to the 2015 data released on Friday.
„The 2015 results indicate that, by the number of employees, the subgroups of enterprises controlled by legal or natural persons in Germany (18.0%) rank first, those controlled in France (10.5%) rank the second and those controlled in Italy (10.5%) rank the third,” mentions the INS report.

Most of the „subgroups of enterprises controlled in Germany” are active in the manufacturing sector (9.1%), „wholesale and retail trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles” sector (2.6%) and financial and insurance sector (1.8%) – based on the INS methodology for classification by the share of the number of employees in the total of the groups of multinational enterprises controlled from abroad.
Out of the subgroups of enterprises controlled in France, 4.0% are active in the manufacturing sector and 3.2% in the wholesale trade.
Most of the subgroups of enterprises controlled in Italy are active in the manufacturing sector (6.6%).
