Last year, a household spent a monthly average of 4.05 lei for education, 90.71 lei for telephone services and 26.26 lei for health services, according to an INS publication quoted by Agerpres.
Other monthly average expenditure per household:
- for electricity – 94.06 lei
- for natural gas – 56 lei
- thermal energy – 13.61 lei
- water, sewage, sanitation – 56.35 lei
- cultural and recreational services – 7.46 lei
- personal care – 13.89 lei
- tourist services – 13.71 lei
- radio-tv subscriptions – 23.95 lei
- transport services – 33.59 lei
- gambling – 0.45 lei
Only 30.2% of households in Romania have afforded to buy new clothes last year, and 18.1% have afforded a one week holiday spent outside their home, the publication also mentions.
Also, they did not pay in time:
- One-third of households in Romania – utilities
- 5% of households – electricity
- 4% – radio-TV subscription
- 2% – phone services
Income taxes, contributions to social security budgets, contributions and other taxes represented a 20.3% share of total household spending in 2016, amounting to an average of 513 lei/month, according to INS.
Of this amount:
- salary income tax accounted for 39.7%, compared to 39.5% in 2015
- social security contributions (pension, unemployment and health insurance) – 58.4%, compared to 56.3% in 2015.
