IRUM Reghin launched the first 100% Romanian tractor, announced Digi24, designed and built by the company’s engineers, 15 years after the Romanian tractor manufacturing disappeared.
TAGRO project was developed within the Research and Development Centre of Agricultural and Forestry Machinery – IFOR – which operates at Reghin. This centre was established by MAVIPROD group and involved an investment of EUR 2.65 million.
The investment in TAGRO project amounted to another EUR 4 million, made available by MAVIPROD group, IRUM’s shareholder.
This tractor is primarily addressed to small and medium-sized farms and will be sold on the domestic as well as foreign markets. TAGRO will have all the necessary endowment for a modern tractor, including radio controls and air conditioning. Prior to the launch, the tractor was tested in Romania and Italy, and the homologation process within the Romanian Automotive Register will be completed by the end of this year.
The starting price for such an agricultural tractor will be EUR 34,500. Serial production will start in April 2019, and IRUM Reghin estimates that 200 tractors will be produced and sold in the first year.

Currently, IRUM employs nearly 500 people, and 2017 turnover of MAVIPROD group, which includes IRUM, is EUR 40 million.
